Book Title: The Million Dollar Blog
Author: Natasha Courtenay-Smith
My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
What is the book about?
The book is a compendium of advice about how to start blogging and how to overcome various hurdles that may be stopping you from starting up your own personal or business blog.
If you are looking for a book about the technical aspects of using platforms such as WordPress, this is not the book for you.
“This book is a must read for bloggers and aspiring bloggers.”
What did I think of the book?
I loved it, that is the reason for the five star rating. When I purchased this book it had good online reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. This book is a must read for bloggers and aspiring bloggers.
“Brilliantly written, engaging and inspiring.” Vicki Psarias, founder of the award winning blog Honest Mum
This is my first book review and what a book to start with, it is brilliant. I loved the practical advice, tips and recommendations, along side ‘ask the expert’ sections and real life case studies from successful blogs/websites, including:

Evan Carmichael: http://evancarmichael.com
If you are considering starting a blog (on any topic) or would like to refresh an existing blog, this is the book for you.
Having finished the book I feel inspired and motivated to dedicate more time to writing. I have a list of ideas to improve my blog, a number of headlines for new blog posts and ideas for the future that I want to invest in when I have the funds to do so.
I liked her suggestions about asking your audience for content ideas. Natasha writes: “Ask your clients/audience what they are looking for. You can do this on social media via surveys that you send to clients/customers, creating them with online tools such as Survey Monkey.”
So keep a eye on my social media accounts if you have any suggestions that you would like to make.
Another idea she suggests is to write about the things that you are often asked about. I am often asked for advice on various elements of school business management and I think this will provide some useful content for the future that is helpful to you my wonderful readers.

There are fantastic ideas for generating ideas for blog posts that I have made a note of and I am already using them to draft outlines. I also liked the section about how to write posts. I am hoping that utilising some of these ideas will improve the look of my blog and make it more desirable to read.
I hope in the future I will be able to go back to the advice about branding, but I am in the early stages of blogging. For now my aim is to work on content using the advice that I have read and hopefully draft some posts that people want to read.
I know that this is a book that will go in to my leadership library and I will refer to it in the future.
If you have read the book or used it to improve your own blog I would love to read your thoughts. I would also be very grateful for any suggestions of topics that you would like me to write about or ideas for improving my blog.
